Default Tough Half Marathon in Calgary 2007

I came back last night from the Calgary Stampede. It was fun to take our 3 year old on her first rides. She was grinning big and wide the whole time.

I also ran the Calgary Half Marathon, and boy that was a disaster for me. I hadn't slept enough the days before and I bonked after 13 kilometers. My legs were dead and I struggled to the finish in 1:20.

Still, I enjoyed the whole time there, and I try to not be too competitive in my approach when the family comes with me. It was a fun way to combine a run and the amusement park stuff.

I highly recommend the Calgary Stampede if you want to come to Alberta in July!

Hey Robert - Family fun is what it is all about. Who knows maybe a few years from now you may have competition from within. Personally I don’t think 1:20 (1 minute and 20 seconds) is a shabby time. LOL.

Hey as long as you are having fun with love ones, who cares about the time??? It was time well spent.

Yeah, it was a great event anyway.

I forgot to mention our 13 year old daughter, she ran her first real 10k race in under 58 minutes! I was so excited for her! She has won athlete of the year 2 years in a row in junior high.

Sounds fun! And heck, me best half was about an hour, 30 min. plus or minus several seconds either way. An hour twenty is Ppretty good for bonking!, at least by my standards!

Oh, and also, I was listening to Dan Aykroyd announce his Blues hour last night, and he was featuring upcoming Blues fests. He highlighted one in the Calgary area that is coming up. It sounds like a good show! Are you planning to go?

    The Stampede ROCKS!
We used to try and figure out just how much debauchery we could getaway with and still survive it.

Why on earth would you want to run for almost an hour and a half? Don't you have a bicycle? Are we going to have to get a collection going so that you can get one? That running stuff is just not right. That's why the creator gave us bikes and skis.

If I tried running for an hour and a half I might make it four blocks to the library.

    Good job Robert. (clap, clap)

Where does one find Dan's radiobroadcast? Is it regular radio or satellite radio?
