That is a good deal. You can use it for a lot of applications. It will warm up processors, improve mic quality for recordings and help you catch the big fish that usually get away.
Good deal for the price of dinner for two.
Anybody here ever use an ART Tube MP Studio (not V3) with their electrics?

never tried one of these.. butOriginally Posted by WackyT
I do/have used a Behringer mic200 preamp for Mic and Acousitc.. it's more like the V3 than this..having different voicings and also is $50.00 like the v3..
What I discovered..after messing with the voicings.. I just leave it on Valve.. so..I would think thats probably what ART did.. just settled on one voice.. At the time the ART v3 was much more in price than the behringer version.. You ask me, they are the same..
If you want to add some warmth to your voice or acoustics.. these things work for that.. also gives you a way to get your Vocals/Acoustic into the computer..
hooked to an electric guitar... after the honeymoon, it never did anything for me.. (imho)
$30 sounds like a very good price!

I ordered one. Couldn't stand the G.A.S.! I'll probably also be doing some of the Black Lion Audio mods and getting a better tube for her, probably an EH 12AX7.

Got my Tube MP Studio today. She works good, but not great. I decided to order a 5751 for her instead of another 12AX7 to help give her more crunch at lower gain.

Unlike a 12AX7, the 5751 has a lower gain of 70 (100 for a 12AX7) just like the originals. The tube is lower impedance, and has predominent 2nd harmonics for a sweet, smooth tone. The 5751 is famous for its linear response and good transconductance and this tube holds true to that specification.
The new tube also has the cathode constant of the original and will work wonders in Marshalls.
This means the tube will not be destroyed by the direct coupled cathode follower found in many amps, and a problem with all 12AX7's that many do not know about.
The 5751 has a bit less gain than a 12AX7, (30% less) and a more linear tone, Smoother, with outstanding clarity and "chime." Overdrives in a different manner when compared to other tubes (not as harsh) Very cool.
Stevie Ray Vaughan preferred them in his Super Reverb and Vibroverb in tube #2 (reverb preamp) for a clean tone with far more headroom than a 12AX7. It is one of the Characteristics of the "chime" tone.
The 5751 is not a 12AX7, it is a different tube with different character.
Guitars: A Few
Amps: A Couple
Pedals/Effects: Sure
We've done four already, but now we're steady, and then they went one-two-three-four....
Thanks for the info Big K. I found this page on Tubestore explaining the different preamp tubes, and also found a couple reviews of the Tube MP in which they traded out the 12AX7 for a 5751, and said it sounded a lot better.
