"Early next mornin' bout a half past nine I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Talked and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said come on you dirty heck into that district court
Into the courtroom my trial began where I was handled by twelve honest men
Just before the jury started out I saw the little judge commence to look about"

    How about this one?

    I was cutting the rug
Down at a place called the jug
With a girl named Linda Lu
    When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who.

    He said, hey there fellow,
    With the hair colored yellow,
    Watcha tryin' to prove?
    cause thats my woman there
And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you.

Actually I heard that song on the radio today. It's Judas Priest's "Turbo Lover". OK, it's really Leonard Skinard's (<- note: metric spelling) "Gimme Three Steps".

    Here's one for you:
    "Maybe I might have changed
    And not been so cruel
    Not been such a fool
    Whatever is done is done
    I just can't recall
    It doesn't matter at all"

I'll take either the original artist or the band that covered it that I'm thinking of
Axen: Jackson DK2M, Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster, Reverend Warhawk 390, Taylor 914ce, ESP LTD Surveyor-414
Amphen: Jet City JCA22H and JCA12S cab, Carvin X-60 combo, Acoustic B20

I'm in the dark as to who did a cover version of this. I didn't know you listened to this kind of stuff. I remember when this came out. I was 12 and was just getting into Yes, Moody Blues, ELP. Wow. Memories...misty water colored memories.

Why don't you fill everyone else in on the artist/title and I'll tell you the cover artist

It's been covered a lot. A lesser-known cover of it by a fairly famous band is on a middle-period Soul Asylum album, just prior to them becoming famous.

As covered by none other than Dokken! I've got it on their album "Dysfunctional", but that clip is from "One Live Night."

Hint: This guy is growing up.

    To keepin' silence I resigned

My friends would think I was a nut

    Turning water into wine

Open doors would soon be shut

So I went from day to day

Tho' my life was in a rut

"Till I thought of what I'd say

    Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery

I walked right out of the machinery

My heart going boom boom boom

"Hey" he said "Grab your things

I've come to take you home."

    Back home.
