    how 'bout:

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
Its got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?

See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently like rain

Too easy. I'm not even going to say, but it's a song from a northern band. Who can get this one? You'll only get one distant early warning.

This one might be a bit tougher:

They all call her her "puta" 'cause no one really knows her name.
She works the cantina, dancin' and a-lovin's her trade.
Her mama was Mez'can and her daddy was the ace of spades.

This will stump all, and no putting up any other lyrics until somebody gets it. The strongest hint is in the lyrics

Who invented the slow burning fire
    the unforgettable high
who put the moon and the stars in the skies
    the kaleidoscope inside your eyes

Rising higher from the primal cries
like a spiral up to the moon
day by day this ambitious grind
search for a new state of mind

    Restless species, all of Africa
    running for water and food
flowers and trees & wild, wild weeds
colours and shapes of our tribes

The Truth will set you free
we will stand up to the lie
with this heart bigger than America
we will fight fire with fire
no more kiss will seal the lies

In the evening, When the day is done
I'm looking for a woman, but the girl don't come
So don't let her, Play you for a fool
She don't show no pity baby, she don't make no rules

How many years did I play "Rocky Top" six nights a week? I am ashamed I couldn't remember it. Is this what happens in old age or is something else affecting my memory?

    Good job t_ross.
