Mercury Magnetics are great sounding transformers. But they are very expensive. If you decide to go with them, I would make sure the replacement transformer is an exact fit. The one thing you don't want to do to your vintage amp is drill extra holes to mount the new transformer.

There are a few companies that make exact fit OTs:

    http://www.mojotone.com

    http://www.allenamps.com

https://secure.cedist.com/ (has Hammond's new line of Fender replacements)

    http://www.heyboertransformers.com/tubeamps.shtml

You may also look into having the original transformer rewound. I'm not sure who does this, but you may want to check with Heyboer. At the very least, keep the old OT in case someone down the road wants to rewind it.

Ouch Barnstormer thats a shame ...those old 6G6 Bassmans are an amazing guitar amp and very valuable , heres my advice , get yourself a new tranny from Mercury get a Tone Clone model ..put your old tranny in a box and put it away , if you ever sell your Bassman the new owner will have the option of chosing where he would like to have the original rebuilt , most collectors have a prefered tech .. heres the other thing , that tranny blew for a reason , you need to have the amp gone through by a tech who knows what he's he doing and have him install the new tranny at the same time .. keep all original parts .ahh the joys of old amps ..6S9L
