    Default winding your own pickups

well, I've decided to make my own bass when I get some cash, either maple neck-through, or ash bodie with maple bolt on neck. Either way, I was going to wind my own pickups with bobbins made from some scraps leftover from the bodie wood, I'm going to improvise on a winding machine using a drill and a counter, I just need some wire and magnets for the pickups, does anybody have Ideas?

Check out "Basic Pickup Winding" by Jason Lollar. It is out of print and used copies go for big bucks on eBay, but you may be able to get a copy from your local library via interlibrary loan.

Jason posts to the Music Electronics Forum from time to time. In fact, there is a pickup winding section on that board.
