Default How many guitars do you own?

OK, I'm surprised this hasn't been done before here, but I'm curious about this. How many guitars do you own? Any kind counts--electric, acoustic, basses, dobros, etc. But it has to be a guitar; no mandolins, banjos, ukes, etc.

I'm up to 8 now and my wife thinks I'm some kind of maniac. Well, OK, let's not get into debate on that point, but I've been telling her that, for a guitar enthusiast, I'm fairly normal...at least in a statistical sense. But I need DATA!! So click on the value above that represents your particular extent of GAS fulfillment!

Haha, Spud's got over twice mine!

Composites are the way to go for portraiture of large groups, though Spud's lawn shot from the roof is a classic.

Counting guitars and basses and subtracting the banjo, mando, and uke, I get 22.

I'm up to six. I've decided that I really don't need that many. Gonna trim it down to one electric, one 6 string acoustic, and one 12 string acoustic. Maybe then I can focus more on practice. :

Two electrics minimum. Because if you get in a band or otherwise find yourself in a performing sitch, you need a backup.

I've got two & I got both of those at the same time. My wife still doesn't understand why I need two.

The other day she said "I think you don't need to get any more of those little boxes" meaning pedals. I should show her some of your little box boards!!

The thing is, right now I agree with her. I don't need any more little boxes.

O, but this year I will get a third guitar.

For us, that's kind of depending on how you count?

the household has 10, if Shiner gets his archtop back from UPS.

but individually, i have 4 and he has 6.

[it should go to eleven... ]

I have the 5 listed in my sig, and that's more than I need. If all I had was the Xaviere and the Guild, I'd be fine. You wanna talk amps or effects or PA equipment, that's a different story.

I have 5 at the moment. Right now the Dot and ARC300 are my favorites. Future - a Gretsch and a Strat, but that is a ways off. I decided no more guitars until I can demonstrate a sizable improvement in my playing. Guitars started getting like golf drivers and the thinking was, new guitar, better playing.

Spud, are you serious? Do you have any photos of some of them?
