Default Video Lesson 2-8-08 - More 12 Bar Blues structure and Solo

    Howdy!

Just a quick note...I am having to change my www.premierguitarlessons.com site to www.markweinguitarlessons.com ...there will probably be a few days where the site is up and down over the next week or so...

The lesson blog soldiers happily on, though....

Here are last weeks and this weeks lessons:

    Lesson #2

This week I am extending the 12 Bar Blues lesson quite a bit.

We have a sample song that we are using to analyze a simple but pretty common "3 phrase" structure for a 12 bar blues, and then I am extending that concept into a solo where we break each of the 3 4 measure "phrases" into a "question and answer" idea to give your solo some structure.

Over the next couple of lessons we will build the example into a complete song/arrangement with "stop breaks", an intro, extended solo and a tagged ending...pretty much every cliche and device I can cram into the song to illustrate their uses will be explored!

    Lesson #3

I'm just continuing this week building our song with an intro derived from the chord progression, some stop breaks ala Freddy King and another chorus of solo kicked up a notch with some double and triple stops!

    Have fun!

I REALLY want to know why... I am a search engine optimization guy too, so you when you mention this I get really curious. Let's see... you forgot the renew the domain? Now you'll have to go and change your signature in a bunch of forums....
Make sure you use server redirects from the old domain name to the new one if at all possible. This can also be done through DNS via your registrar.
The Law of Gravity is nonsense. No such law exists. If I think I float, and you think I float, then it happens.

Thank you...one of the hardest things to do it to get a beginner who has just gotten their first blues scale thinking melody instead of playing the scale up and down from top to bottom...the "conversational" approach I think is an easy thing to get the student playing some structure to their solos without getting too technical...

I think the internet stuff will work out...I just started rebuilding the site today and it should be in pretty good shape in a day or two....

    Hey guys...

I was wondering if I could ask you for a favor...I just rebuilt my site (see above ) and I was wondering if some of you could go click around and see if I've made any obvious mistakes that I am too tired to catch...

    The new site is here:

    Thanks in advance

Thanks...I was so tired last night (well, four hours ago) that I just couldn't see straight and its hard to be thorough when there is so much stuff to go through that you've been staring at for most of the day....

    Thanks again

    Hello Mark,

I have been milling around your site and I am finding that a good portion of it is just what I have been looking for or already been working on. I feel I am a small bit farther along then beginner and am really connecting with your lessons. I was working on a basic soloing video earlier today and I cannot find it now. Did you change things around since this morning? I will dig around and find it it was perfect right where I was at in my practicing and it really cleared things up for me. I really like your inside/outside picking exercises too.

Thank you very much for your and time on this.

No problem! I think I benefit as much if not more than you guys by doing the lessons...do you remember the name of the lesson or the material you were working on?

I was still working on things this morning so some of the pages might not have been available...check this out and see if you can find the lesson you were working on:
