How about "Life by the Drop"?
Got any ideas? We need some nice "cocktail-ishy" songs for Myra and I. She sometimes plays acoustic, but I'd like to use some delay and maybe my JamMan for a bigger sound.
Examples of what currently do:
Need ideas... we have a gig coming up next month (for an organic foods conference).# Don't Know Why - Norah Jones
# Perpetual Blues Machine - Keb Mo
# Route 66 - Nat King Cole
# Stormy Weather - Ella Fitzgerald/Etta James
# Time after Time - Cyndi Lauper (inpspired by Eva Cassidy)
# Speed of The Sound Of Loneliness - John Prine
# Blues On A Holiday - Susan Tedeschi

Hello Robert,
You should check Dinah Washington's *definitive* cd. There you will find some couple of brilliant numbers for such an occasion. Don't buy the best of cds of her, as some songs are missing!
I only say "Mad about the boy", "Unforgettable", "What a diff'rence a day made"
Picked out Dinah, 'cause I think your singer will like it
Good luck for learning the songs

Moon Dance is tricky because of the walking bass. I'd definitely have to use the JamMan with a pre-recorded bass line for that one.

A Coltrane-ish "Favorite Things" sounds nice for cocktail hour type background. Lots of room for quiet expression. Ever since your "Bird" lick lesson, I have liked the idea of moving breath instrument solo work over to lead guitar.

Marnold, good suggestion! I have been trying to get Myra to do this one. I love this song so much. One problem is the vocal harmony. I probably don't sing well enough to do a real good job of the chorus vocal harmonies. Do you think it's possible to skip the vocal harmony?

We already do Fly Me To The Moon - a little hard to make sound interesting with no walking bass though. Spudman gives me suggestion of stuff I've never heard. Boogie is not quite the right style for cocktail music. Favorite Things is hard to play on a duo.
