    Default 8" Speaker Replacement

Hey all; need some advice. I'm seriiously thinking of getting a Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 tube amp. It has really good reviews and has a headphone jack which pretty much seals the deal for me. Some reviews have said the speaker could be better. So, I was wondering are there any 8" speakers that you would recommend (that aren't EXPENSIVE btw) in case at some point I want to change. Now, I might just very well like the stock speaker but was wondering WHAT IF, JUST IN CASE!!

Well, recognizing that there are going to be some innate limitations with a small speaker (i.e. mostly lack of bottom end), there are some very good values available from Weber and Jensen. I put a Jensen C8R in my Valve Jr. that sounds very good. The amp tended to sound a little on the dark side, and this added some brightness and clarity to the top end. Tough to beat at $28!
