I use Dunlop 2mm and V-picks (www.v-picks.com). I find round, thick picks are good for creating a fat tone.

I love Big Stubbys 3.0, but also the 2.0 mm dunlop standard.
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009
I generally like .80 to 1 mm, but I'm not married to a brand or material. Clayton Acetyl, Clayton Black, Dunlop nylon or tortex or Gator Grip, Fender heavy, whatever. I'm liking the white Clayton acetyls lately because the logo is a little sticky.

Dunlop Jazz III small red pointy ones, I think they are 1.38 mm. I want to try V-picks but have not got around to getting some yet.
I tend to use lately Dunlop Tortex .88 (green) on my electric, and 1.14 (purple) on my acoustic. I used to favor Fender Heavy, tortoise shell, and still like that flavor. I have not got used to the thicker purple ones on my electric yet, but plan to experiment. I have thought about trying a thicker jazz pick, or one of those V-picks, but haven't got 'round to it.

Okey, so the majority players use thick picks. I used a 1.00 yesterday (had an old basspick) and I must say I liked the tone it gave. Perhaps I´m gonna change for a while and try out 1.00-2.00, yepp I will try out a thicker pick for a while. Of to the musicstore I go!

In general, heavier picks give you a fatter thumpier tone (especially on acoustic instruments), and you get more control because the pick doesn't flex as much. Of course technique plays a big role; I find I can get a pretty decent tone from thinner picks if I really pay attention to my attack.

I use these

or these
http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?p...products/picks
I have both, any of the pointy ones have been worn round.
Love them both, takes a little more control when strumming, I tend to turn them sideways or just relax my fingers to allow the pick to move freely.
I've been imitated so well I've heard people copy my mistakes.

I find myself switching pics alot. Mostly I use Fender mediums but sometimes will use a Clayton .80mm or 1.00mm pick. I tend to like the Fender mediums alot (California clears) for chords and some soloing, but sometimes will pull out the Claytons. It's not just the feel of the pick though that influences what I use, but also the tone I get from the pick.
