Default FS: G&L ASAT Semi Hollow

EDIT 12-11-08: this thread drew 965 views since May. You can stop looking now, cuz the guitar is SOLD.
Now that I've got my new ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi Hollow, I mentioned in that thread that I was considering letting this go. I've made my decision, and as of 2 days ago, it's on consignment at my local GAS Station.
    EDIT 12-9-08
After taking this off the market in June, I took the neck off to check the final build date in the pocket -- March 5, 2002 -- looks like the folks at G&L enjoyed themselves with the color combo, reminding themselves to give the neck tint a golden cast:

I bought it in April 2006. Since neither the original owner nor I ever gigged out with this guitar, it's in pristine condition, practically mint other than the pickguard showing use, and NOW comes with an equally pristine G&L Vintage Tweed wood-shell hard case by G&G, a significant upgrade from the stock G&L SKB-made molded hardshell case she originally came with that I bought her with. I also picked up a 3-ply white-black-white pg to try out a 'tuxedo' look, so now she'll come with both pg's:

It was custom ordered by my dealer for its previous owner to match G&L's website/catalog model shot:

"Technically", it's an ASAT Special Semi Hollow, but G&L's official model name is simply the ASAT Semi Hollow. Upgrades from Standard Specs are the gold-plated hardware (high quality, heavy plating, at that...not prone to rubbing off if cared for) and glossed gun-oil tinted neck & fingerboard. You can find the specs by locating the model at G&L's site. (Can't link directly to it, because G&L is so old-school their site is setup in 'Frames'.) Go to 'Instruments' in the menu on the left of the Home Page, then select 'ASAT Semi Hollow':

    G&L Guitars

The price tag on it at my dealer EDIT 12-9-08: in May was $999. EDIT 12-9-08: I will see him this week about consignment again and establishing a new price with teh upgraded case and 2nd pickguard. I will net somewhat less than that if he sells it himself. But if anyone is seriously interested in making a reasonable offer, PM me. He won't take a cut if I 'sell' it, but he will charge me shipping. My dealer ships UPS, but you could specify how you want it shipped if you prefer another carrier.

    Thanks for looking.

That's beautiful and a reasonable price. I just can't do black guitars. It looks great with the gold hardware. Good luck.

I hate when this stuff pops up and I haven't won the lottery yet. Wingdad this is one of those guitars where the day will come when I say "I had the opportunity to buy a black ASAT, but the stars were not lined up correctly". If I can work something out I will contact you.

I will have to figure out how to go back on my word for the 5th time - "I promise, it's the last one"

The price is pretty much Fair Market Value. Since the guitar would list today for about $2,000 or so, it's priced at 50% of MSRP...a fairly standard benchmark for used guitars in exc cond. Market by Market, it could be 10-15% higher depending on demand but not more than 5% less.

Wish I had the green and not a housefull of guitars already.

OK, I lied about the second bit.

    Good luck with your sale.

Default G&L ASAT Semi Hollow No Longer For Sale

I'd edit the title of this thread, but I must be dumber than dirt.

There've been a number of folks interested in this guitar since I put it on consignment at the store, but none willing to make a straight purchase, all wanting to work a trade deal.

I've decided to take this off the market and am taking it back today or tomorrow before it gets damaged. When I do, we'll take the neck off and find the true build date in the pocket, then do a fresh setup.

So does that mean it's back with the rest of the group, but still for sale if someone comes along that might be interested?

I guess it means that since she didn't sell quick enough to get out of sight, out of mind, I figure I'll take her back home and out of harms way, safe & sound.

Didn't get her today, got stuck at work. May not get to the GAS station til Sunday now.

Maybe I've had some regrets or remorse. Guess I want to reconsider carefully whether to let this very special guitar go.

Not sure if she's really for sale yet.

Muddy, check yo PM box, backatcha.

EDIT 6-21-08: I could clear up the confusion if I could do like Strum has done & rename this thread to "Not For Sale" etc. But I must lack the brains or privelege.

Here's what's going on: I think I feared neglecting the new ASAT Classic Bluesboy, which even at an unbeatably insane great price from my Local GAS Station G&L dealer, cost me more than I've ever spent on a single guitar (a close 2nd place goes to my Tacoma JK28C Koa Jumbo).

So, I rationalized : I needed to sell this ASAT to help pay for my new paramour. Somehow, I figured one ASAT would be enough for me. But as she's hung in that store since the beginning of May, getting pawed and played with by folks unwilling to pull the trigger and grab her for themselves, I got to thinking about how different she is than the Bluesboy, or any other of my guitars. She's got the soapbar MFD pups that are like P90's on steroids, and that massive ToneLock bridge, not the traditional (although with 6 saddles, not 3) Tele-type bridge & pickup unit, strung through the body.

Right now, she's been taken off the wall at the store and cased, waiting for me to take her back home later this afternoon. I'm gonna take her neck off and find out her true build date in the pocket, clean & detail her, restring & set her up. Then plug her into my T21 & play her. A lot.

Then I'll either fall in love with her all over again or not and decide if I want to keep her in my harem or let her go.

EDIT 12-9-08: Well, I fell back in love with her and gave her a fresh 'tuxedo' look, but the world just keeps on changing for me...and the time has come fro me to put her back on the market.

I'll put a fresh new thread up later with more pics taken recently in natural light showing more details.

Truthfully that black betty is a thing of beauty!:

She would have a place here with my girls (guitars) and boys. She might even be number 2 if I ever manage again

    Default SOLD!! - '02 G&L Black & Gold ASAT Semi-Hollow

EDIT 12-11-08: This amazing guitar is SOLD.

Earlier today I edited the original thread from when I put this guitar on the market in May and then took if off in June...here's a link to that thread.
Original May 08 FS Thread - Edited today

Well, as much as it kills me to have to do it, I need to put this 'Black Betty' (as mrmudcat christened her) back up for 'Paid Adoption.' I don't do e-bay. So other than here, I may put it up on the G&L Discussion Page (forum).

If you go to that May thread, I described the specs & put a link to the G&L site where you can examine the model more, so I won't repeat that stuff here.

Here's some natural light outdoor shots of her in her new 'tuxedo' look I took after taking her back home in June:

This guitar & case, while over 6 years old, in virtual mint condition, is worth at least every penny of the $1,000 price tag (including shipping as described below) that I'm putting on it.

So...send me a pm if you're interested in making an offer and working out a payment arrangement. Unless the buyer wants otherwise, I'd ship this the same way I sent 2 guitars safely to Rocket in Florida, boxed & shipped FedEx Ground, insured, leaving California on a Monday so it can make it safely anywhere in the Continental lower US by that Friday.

    Thanks for looking.

    Yep.:

Santa knows who deserves her & bought her and I'll be packing it to put on his sled over the weekend so he can deliver her to her new (3rd) home in time to put under the tree.
