    The Dean headstock, at least the reverse V one, was originated by Gibson. It was on one of their prototype V-type guitars that didn't go into production, iirc.

    i still don't like the looks of it....that's why there is more than one style...different strokes and such!

    Oh, btw, I checked and the Gibby design was slightly offset, came on the Futura, a pre-Explorer design, much much later done as custom shop re-issues in very limited runs:
