Default Help me soup up my Duo-sonic!

Well long story short,my first guitar was a 1993 Fender Duosonic Re-issue MIM.
Being made in mexico, and pretty old ,I was thinking on replacing the pickups and pickguard.I was thinking on gold lace sensors for a hendrix like tone. What would you guys suggest I do with it? Some simple upgrades you could recommend? I'm game for anything so let me hear suggestions! Cheers, Ironbird.:

If you're looking for Hendrix without the hum, you might want to check out Dimarzio's new Area 67s. Here's a clip of HarryJ using an Area 67 prototype to play SRV's "Lenny".

If I understood correctly, they were basically going for a Hendrix thing with those pups.
