    Default Back from Pearl

we got back from Pearl about a half hour ago; met up with Pappy, Yerdugliness/his SO AnnA, and several of the regulars/locals we've befriended. We had a blast. for the first time, instead of being camped out under our 'p** elm', as Pappy calls it, we were in one of the actual jam rooms [two other local music festivals were going on this weekend in Brownwood and Gatesville, so the crowd was a bit thinner than usual]

Strumsalot, if you still check in from time to time, you and Beppi were dearly missed... hope you both are well!

it was great fun to share fellowship and music with our friends...

    AND...

o, Muddy... : tres cool, man!!!

today was the day i got my slides... Dugly had made one for both my ring and pinkie fingers... but apparently Mudcat had conspired with Dug to make sure i had a Mudcat special... and insisted it be blue. they are all awesome, and i can't wait to get started... [post gig... 12 days and counting!]

we also got some very, very sweet gifts from AnnA...

i don't have pics yet... shiner is going to get out the digicam after supper... but we have to wait for Dug/AnnA to get home to post the actual pictures of us jammin' out, b/c we forgot to take our camera... :

awesome day in texas, my friends!

ok, here's the adorable birdhouse that AnnA made us... she made one for Pappy too, that just was too cute for words.

and here are my new slides; Dug made the black one for my pinkie and the clear one for my ring finger. the blue one is my Muddy Special. : to both of you!!!

guitar has brought me new friends, a new way to express myself, and just a great deal of happiness. today was a good day.

It was great meeting up with you and Shiner again and Douglas and Anna, now ain't that Anna a talented lady and sweet as a lady bug in June. I will try to get a picture up tomorrow of the house she gave me.It's adorable and many, many thanks to you Anna. It happened just like I told you it would, when my wife saw it, it suddenly became her's instead of mine LOL. The only thing I hated about today was that I had to leave so early but the dance recital was a smash. We went from there to a wedding reception of a young couple that went to school with my son and daughter-in-law,the wedding was the same time as the dance recital so we missed that, but we made up for it at the reception with free kegs and a live band. Just got home so the picture will have to wait LOL. Thanks to all of you for a great time today.

[giggle] actually, Pearl beer comes from a brewery in san antonio... i actually toured it in grade school. [... ummm... not sure about the educational staff's thought process on that one, but i swear it to be true... i was six years old, no less]

i realized, in hindsight, that a) i've forgotten some timeline of what has been posted when i frequented the W and what was posted here and b) we have a lot of new faces.

i apologize for that, rabies, et al.

in the Long, Long Ago, the Far Far Away, a group of us posted on a different forum. several of us were from tx and we decided to get together at Pappy's invitation to a very small rural community called Pearl, a little over an hour west of waco. they have a bluegrass/country/gospel festival the first sat of every month.

first it was just us hooking up with Pappy. then a gent who posted here briefly after the Mass Exodus of 2007 by his same username as Yurdugliness met up with us, then another former poster by the name of Strumsalot and his wife. Dugly started bringing his significant other, AnnA, and things grew from there.

i need to email Dugly and ask if AnnA would forward some pics, she is a wonderful photographer/craftsman, and i would love to share those with the forum upon receipt.

i apologize again, and hope that helps.

What about that big festival coming up this month in Waco, I saw it listed in Acoustic Guitar magazine, looked like a big music fest.

[???] give me more, Street. we have an annual thing at Indian Springs park by the suspension bridge in waco, is that it? my curiosity is piqued. i asked Shiner and he didn't know.

and in [small] defense to my previous post, i was in two very unique school systems from pre-k to 3rd grade, sort of montessori based, where kids toured lots of places. i would add we toured local art museums, the s.a. zoo, the alamo, missions, the symphony, local theatre such as peter and the wolf and the nutcracker, local geographical sites... s.a. has a limestone structure that is very unique and there are a ton of very cool caves, public and private there. i was lucky enough to do all of that.
