Extreme Reuniting for a few shows - any fans here?

I don't know if there are any Extreme fans here, but all of the original members are reuniting for a few shows in New England due to the overwhelming demand of their fans.

I for one am ecstatic and will be sitting in the 7th row at the Fleet Pavillion show in Boston. I hope I get a chance to meet the guys again… they are really down to earth and great musicians.

Im not a fan of their music, but Nuno Bettencourt is truly a gifted guitarist! The solo on "Get the funk out" is nothing but brilliant!

Nuno has this great, syncopated sense of rhythm going on, and his leads are phenominal. I didn't like the sound much when they were around the first time, but I can definitely appreciate it more now that I'm older and a bit more mature. I'd buy an album of theirs if they released a new one nowadays.

Sounds like a fun show to go to - Nuno is a great player. I bet that would be a groovy show.

By the way, what are the different members of Extreme doing these days?

I'm with Kat. That band has so much potential. Kind of like Mr. Big. They can sing, do ballads, rock the house and pose. They got it all. I'd love to hear new material from them and would even go to a show if one was near by. It would be much better than the Poison concert my wife wants me to go to. I told her flat out, "NO." However, we are going to see Queensryche perform Mindcrime II in Salt Lake City in September. That I can handle.

What the heck have the Extreme guys been doing all these years? I know Gary was with Van Halen briefly, but that is all I know.

To get back somewhat on topic, I remember that nuno had a signature guitar that I liked a lot, but I cannot remember what brand it was... is it still produced? I think it was Washburn...

I think that elevator music is better than radio music. Even the stuff they play at chinese restaurants is better than the radio music these days...

My wife and I met by starting a discussion about Queensryche. Then she showed me her Tryryche tattoo complete with Jeff Tate's signature. I knew she was going to be special. Then when we first started dating we went to Queensryche and Dream Theater together for the Tribe/Train Of Thought tour. When the first Dream Theater song was over she turned to me and said, "Holy S***." I think she was pretty impressed and liked the band too.

Now she loves the Flower Kings as well. Nothing like having a musician turn you on to good music, eh?

And...she has all the Extreme albums as well. Unfortunately, she also has all the Poison albums too. I thinks she'd even go for an Extreme concert since she likes rippin' guitar players.

VH1 had a show called "Bands Reunited" where they tried to get bands back together again for a reunion show... Extreme was one of them. Gary, I don't think, was doing anything, Nuno was busy being a guitar god (and not wanting to be interviewed by the crew on the show), the drummer was a band agent I believe and the other worked on his farm...

As George Lynch once said about Nuno..."he's a fiery little [blanker]". One of my favs. In the context of Extreme I thought Cherone did great vocals too.

I talk to Nuno about that in Oct 2004.

He said he didn't want anything to do with that becuase he felt all VH1 did was exploit artists and make them look stupid. As he put it, "If Extreme ever gets back together, I want it to be on our terms."

Forget the 1st Extreme album - they didn't really have an idenity then. Extreme II - Pornograffitti, III Sides to Every Story, and Waiting For The Punchline are amazing albums. If you give them a good honest listen, I'm sure you will change your minds on them. EX2-PG is the most radio friendly, but the later two are more experiemental and non-traditional. III Sides To Every Story is a little Beatle-esque IMHO.

Extreme was not and never shall be a "hair" band.

If you want to hear a good acoustic instrumental, look for "Midnight Express". Killer song...
