Good question. I haven't tried the '69s, but I do like my '54s. I have lots of videos on my website where I use these.
I think the '54s has slightly less output. They sure have that sweet old vintage tone.
Hi guys,
I'm looking for some opinions on Fender CS '54 pups. I'm thinking about putting these in my Strat. How do they weigh up against say the CS '69s?
Cheers.

The Law of Gravity is nonsense. No such law exists. If I think I float, and you think I float, then it happens.

The key to great bell tones from a Strat are the low output of vintage or vintage spec pickups. Either the '54s or '69s will do it.

I have a CS 54 in the neck on my USA Custom LS93 Washburn and a SSL-1 RW/RP in the middle. The CS-54 and SSL-1 are close in output but the CS-54 is just a little warmer.
