So I take a run down to AutoZone and I'm picking up all the parts for the brake and drum job set for today. While I'm there I decide to pick-up some wax that a guy on the Toyota forum suggested I try (Meguiar's), not an unknown brand, but I had never used it.

The sales guy tells me he's been using it for 25 years and I joke "Hmm, maybe I'll use it on my guitars". He tells me "Oh, I use it on all mine and have been for 10 years". Well, fellow fretters you know that's all it took and it's a good it was early and the store was empty. His main are two Gibsons, an LP and a 335.

I get home and my wife inquires on why it took so long. I told her and she says "can you go anywhere without finding someone that plays guitar?". I just smiled and said "Someday we will rule the world".

BTW, I came home and my daughter was getting ready to go shopping, so the brakes will have to wait until she gets home.

The Dot is waxed and shines magnificently, plus as smooth as a babies butt. NEXT!!!

You should actually steer clear of waxes regardless of the "AutoZone" advice... waxes tend to continue to build up residue that must be removed eventually which will also end up removing/damaging the finish and require a complete strip & refinish.
That's why most guitar manufacturers recommend against "wax" and there are plenty of "no wax" cleaners & polishes out there specifically for guitar finishes.
If you really feel that you must wax your guitar, do is sparingly and not often.

Postscripts:
If you wax the neck you will find that your hand will stick & drag at the slightest hint of hand moisture like sweat.

If you wax the fretboard you find that it will no longer absorb fretboard conditioner.

It's referred to as a cleaner and polisher (same thing Dunlop 65 is referred to), so wax may be incorrect wording. I will have to look at that.

As for the neck and fretboard - dry rag on neck (cotton or the ones used for lens and monitor cleaning). Damp cloth on fretboard occasionally, but again mostly dry. Wood conditioning of some sort less than once a year.

Sold yes, gone no. My co-worker (as Rocket scrambles for dictionary) is on vacation, so he will probably take possession next week when I come back from vacation.

Painted them white with black toes before the photo session. You should be thankful I don't make pancakes.

Rocket : gives good advice and take heed. Automotive paint and guitar paint are different. I would think that car wax would need more powerful solvents to deal with road grime and such.

A few weeks ago, the wife and I were grocery shopping. We went our seperate ways at the store and I hit the seafood department. Turns out that I had a guitar T shirt on and the guy working the counter plays. After a half hour, my wife found me shooting the breeze with this guy.........................and I got my king crab legs for $2.99 a pound! He felt the need to "hook a brother up".

I told my wife "See, it pays to play the guitar!"

$2.99 A POUND FOR KING CRAB LEGS??? Dang brother, you did get a sweet deal. Last weekend my son and I took a trip to Lowe's so I could pick up some wire to finish the firefly amph. The kid cutting the wire asked what I was building, so I told him. Turns out he's a bass player. But he didn't offer to cut me any special deals. He did ask me to name him in the will after I told him how many guitars CB and I have. Then again, what do you expect from a bass player?

Oh Rocket, I think I can do ya' a little better than a couple of gift certificates to Hard Rock. But you're going to have to come to Texas to collect.
