That looks awesome man! Must have been a good relaxing weekend!
Thanks to some tips from Sunvalley and with a little checking on my own I was able to come up with a great place to take the family backpacking over the 4th.
We packed in to a sweet little lake that hadn't seen a lot of traffic this season and I decided that the peak was one the whole family could do. Little did I know just how tough our little 9 year old had gotten. She did almost 3/4 mile vertical -one way- in an afternoon.
We had the lake all to ourselves for the weekend except for elk, coyotes and a few birds and squirrels. We were watching the coyotes howl and bark to each other from about 60 feet away and they never even knew we were there because we were down wind.
The peak is right above Miranda's head
Did I mention how steep it was?
A very narrow ridge on the way up

It was a great time. Little Spud absolutely loves to climb especially when we get to the bigger rock walls.
The next day we packed up, packed out and drove home. Then I showered and played the open mic gig until 11 pm. What a good day...long good day.

Man, Spud - you certainly live in a splendiferous part of the country/world! And, having taught 9-year olds, it's pretty amazing what they can do - and fun being there to do it with them!

Wow Spud we love it out west. We try to get out there as much as possible. You guys or I should say guy and gals are on some dangerous paths, that will make your heart quiver a bit. I love being up on a mountain looking down at a lake on another part of the mountain. I miss it so...
Congrats on a great family vacation:
