Default What Guitar Inspires You to Play?

A little take-off on CB's thread. Out of your guitar collection, what guitar just seems to have more magic, flexibility, comfort, tone, and whatever else that makes it the one that stands out the most or you find you play the most because of the characteristics mentioned or some other characteristic.

I'll tell you what, I've know I said it before, but I always go back to the Dot. It is easy to play, great tone, and flexible/versatile. I would consider adding another, plus the Casino with the P90 and of course a Epi Elitist Sheraton

Okay, enough of the dreaming - without a doubt, the Dot inspires me and get the juices flowing.

Hmmm, honestly it depends on my mood. The Centura sings like an angel, but there are times when CB's strat strikes me in a "down and dirty" kinda way, when I just want to get loud and let loose a little of the frustrations from the week. Then there's the EA52, when I just wanta grab one of the girls and hear her sing a little bit. Or the D10S, my go to girl when I just need to chill a little bit.

OK, that's no answer at all is it.: Each of them speaks to me in a different way. There are only one or two that I don't play on a regular basis, and I'm thinking about pulling a Strummy and selling them, putting the money away to look for another guit.

Tough choice. On any given day, I may pick up any of my main six and want to play it. But I always come back to this one eventually:

For me it would be the Fender Strat.

Just Strum, that's a hard choice and I only have the 3 to choose from since I took the Strat back to Kodiak. My Takamine is the most versatile that I own and she just gleams at me as I walk up to her, My Godin can get the blood pumping with those P90s, and of the most recent the SX is quickly getting a lot of playing time. Tonight they all 3 will get time , I hate to have to choose.

Right now three guitars are with me, three in storage back in St. Pete. So naturally the one I really want to grab is the old Guild, resting in storage. :

Right now the D2R Martin is getting a lot of playing time. For what I do she's just a terrific fit.

Tough question...pick just one? At this point, by the criteria you suggest, it would have to be my G&L ASAT Bluesboy, coming along late in the game as it were. The more I've grown accustomed to 'er, the more I'm realizing she's way more than a 'Tele'. But...to really get going with 'er, I gotta go through plugging in, turning on stuff....

The one guitar out of my harem that gets picked up & played the most is an easily accessible one I don't have to plug in...an acoustic...my Ovation CS257 : Climate-proof, I can leave 'er out without worry, so she hangs around calling me. Strung with extra lights (10-47) to feel more like my electrics (all strung 10-46) and with a soft-v neck and narrow nut, she's most like my super-slim neck Bluesboy or Sheraton II (yep, a 335 is hard to beat). So I can work out things that easily 'translate' to the electrics, or work acoustically.

: Not to stray too far off topic, but since Strum started it, and has a Dot (& not just any Dot : ), believe me, I've thought many times about doing that to the Sheraton and/or Casino.

I have a Gibson ES-135. Who wouldn't be inspired to play that?

My "go to" guitar always seems to be my oldest...my 2003 strat. It is the most comfortable neck I've ever played, and I just love the feel and the tone that comes from it.

I usually goto the one with the newest strings, which is usually the newest aquired or the one with the newest mods or simply just the one with the newest strings.

But for comfort reasons...Ive gotta goto a Strat.

I love my Les Paul and my Tele...even my acoustic.
BUT if laying in bed playing or just sitting down, I find the lack of body contours to be numbing at times, weather its across the ribs or the inside forearm...nothing beats a Strat.(but I recon an SG would be comfy too, just dont have one)
