Default New world record in the Marathon!

    No, it wasn't me.....

It was Haile Gebresalassie -again! Gebrselassie clocked 2:03:59, knocking a massive 27 seconds from his previous World record, set in Berlin one year ago.

    2:03:59 is DISGUSTINGLY fast!

I have run 26.2 miles, and my very best time, which I did not think was so bad, was and hour and seventeen minutes slower than that, give or take. That is freaking amazing. Ok Robert, now you have your goal.

See that's my point. Why the extra 2.6 miles? The whole thing can be done on a bike anyway. Why would anyone run that far? That's just silly.

Consider this. That's an average pace of just under 4:44 per mile for 26.2 miles.

    Frightening!!!!

Hmm, my math would figure 26.2 miles as 2.2 miles more than 24. Just sayin' It is a traditional distance that varied in the early days, but was standardized in 1921. The original marathon, according to legend, was run by Pheidippides, a Greek messenger. The legend states that he was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. He reportedly ran the distance without stopping, delivered his message, and died on the spot. According to legend.
