No, not that big a difference, esp. for playing at home. You get more watts (duh!), a somewhat bigger speaker (12" vs. 10") and an external speaker jack on the AD50VT. The amp models and effects are all the same.

The bigger difference comes when you jump to the AD100VT, with 2x12" speakers and an effects loop to go along with the higher power.

BTW, I have a couple of AD30VT pages on my website (HERE) that you may find interesting, and you may want to poke around on Patchtronix.com and Valvetronix.net, if you haven't already been there....

DVM - this has probably been covered elsewhere but how do you like the sound of your Celestion in the amp? I'm wanting to change out the speaker in mine and remove the back (it finally seems too boomy with it - never thought it would happen). I should probably search for a thread about this.......

Yeah, I think I have commented on this here before, but I don't remember where. So I'll keep it brief:

I found the AD30VT's stock speaker to be kind of harsh at the top end, and the bass tended to be quite loose/raggedy when pushed. This was most noticeable on the higher distortion amp models. The Celestion G10 improved both; the highs are definitely smoother and the bottom end stays much tighter and better defined. I haven't noticed the boominess with the back enclosed, but then again I play at very modest volume levels.
