    Default All set to travel!

My Steinberger Spirit finally arrived today after 3 month's backorder. All I need now is a pocket POD (soon!) and I'll be all set. The guitar has a cool little gig bag that will fit right in an overhead bin or under a cot in some tent in the desert.

I'm getting ready to plug this thing in and see how it sounds.

    Nice plank, Plank!

I've often wondered about the Steinbergers as a travel guitar.

I'm looking forward to your opinions.

    Wow!

A friend of mine has an older Spirit with the EMG HZ pickups. They were OK to just have something to practice with, but they sounded dry and brittle. I don't know what pickups are in mine (they have the Steinberger name on the them) but......................it has some juice and life to it! If these are HZ's my ears must have changed. This little gem actually sounds pretty decent on first impression.

Sound wasn't a deal breaker with buying this. I just wanted a very portable guitar rig that can go anywhere in the world and take up minimum space - it's a 25 1/2" scale, 24 frets...................in a guitar that measures 30" long.

On a strap it feels like I'm playing a ukulele - with no headstock.

Nice. I had a Steinberger GM4T for a long time. I sold it on eBay a few years ago. They sure are nice for traveling. I like those necks - very fast.

    Robert,

The neck actually feels very nice, but my "sight picture" is a little askew with no headstock to judge the distance.

This guitar will more than fit the bill for me as a travel axe.
