Welcome & Bienvennue Syo , enjoy it ..
Blazes:
Hello. My name is Syo. I stumbled upon this forum while seeking information
about Hagstrom Vikings and discovered I liked the energy emanating from your collective spaces.
I have been playing bad guitar (and crumhorn, fiddle, flutes, soft synths, etc.) off and on for over 20 years. I seem to make much faster progress collecting gear than improving my playing, but I seriously enjoy doing both. Mostly banging on Fenders with a few other exceptions.
Music-wise into Richard Thompson, Nick Cave, Radiohead, The Who, Dungen, The Pogues, Jerry Donahue etc, etc...
I am happy to have crossed your paths. Thanks for making some space for me.
Welcome & Bienvennue Syo , enjoy it ..

Welcome syo!!!
I think that you may be our first Japanese Fretter!
Great list of musical interest there!
Crumhorn?!? What is that?
I pick a moon dog.
Hello and thanks TOT.
A crumhorn is a curved medieval capped reed instrument that sounds a cross between a bagpipe and a fart. At least it does when I play it...
Apparently, I don't need a crumhorn then.Originally Posted by syo

You stick it where exactly to get that bagpipe/fart sound?!?

Welcome, syo! I don't know if I've ever had anyone enjoy my energy before. Just hope my wife doesn't find out.
Welcome Syo, you seem to have figured this place out pretty accurately. I can certainly relate to your statement above.Originally Posted by syo
That crumhorn certainly looks painful.

Hey, is Yngwie Malmsteen still a god in Japan? He was incredibly popular there in the past at least.
The Law of Gravity is nonsense. No such law exists. If I think I float, and you think I float, then it happens.

Welcome Syo!
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

Well it's not exactly Yngwie mania nowadays but you can definitely see his influence with some of the Japanese metal bands.
Welcome Syo! I grew up on the other side of the ring of fire in Tacoma near Seattle. It is nice to have someone on the board from Japan!

Where you at in Japan?
I know a bunch of people in and around Tokyo as a result of friends living there, and me working for a Japanese company. I've visited Kyoto and Hiroshima too, but I do love Tokyo though.
BTW, Syo, I am interested in your avatar. It reminds me of a Japanese children's story/fable we read to our kids, called "The Stonecutter". Could you tell me about it?
