That's beautiful. I need a Tele. Does that have the 7.25" radius?

This thread inspired me today. I just bought this for a ridiculously low price on TGP. It's a 1-piece Warmoth ash body with a USA Fender neck and electronics. I will fill in the rest of the details after it's in my hand.

Even after scoring this nice-looking job you posted?

Does that have the 7.25" radius?
G&L offers 5 neck options. This has the '#2' Neck, the 'default' neck for ASATs: 7.5" Radius, 1 5/8" nut width. The other 4 Neck options are 12" radius.

My understanding is the intent (as designed by Leo Fender) is for the #2 neck to be '50's vintage Tele'; BTW, Aeolian, here, is a G&L Maven, and I'd defer to him for more info.

I didn't know it when I ordered it last March and it was built in April, but G&L went to Plekking their necks this past year as they introduced some CNC processes to contain costs. I understand, but not certain, that mine is such a neck. Even though they Plek them for the fretjobs, etc and whatever else the benefits of the Plek process are, they still hand (operate) sand/finish them, so there can be nuances to their finished shape. I shot the sideview of the neck to show the profile shape. This one is a shade slimmer (less thick) than the (not Plekked) #2 neck on the 2002 Black & Gold Semi-Hollow that now belongs to cb...

...but I understand she (and shiner) are pretty pleased with how she handles.

I'd love a Wildkat someday, I rue having passed on one a few years ago that my son-in-law could have let me 'steal' from his pawn shop like he did my '57 Fender Lap, but....uh....nice try. :

Oh...I managed to put things back in place OK after that photo, which was when I was verifying build dates of the neck & body, and the Duncan SH-1N neck pup. There was a short period late '07/early '08 when G&L made the Duncan an optional upgrade and was putting a G&L Alnico mag bucker in as sotck on Bluesboys...but that went over with G&L Fans like a fart in church, and they went back to what made the Bluesboy model, originally designed as a custom job for their largest Retail dealer, Buffalo Brothers (Carlsbad, CA), such a gem.

Just got it. It's a Sixtieth Aniversary Fender American Telecaster neck on a one-piece Warmoth ash body. It has strat contours so it's pretty comfy and it has a sculpted neck heel. All of the hardware is USA Fender and the pickups sound pretty good. It had a little grounding issue but I've taken care of that. I'm pretty happy with it. I hope to drop a Lindy Fralin pickup in the bridge and a Seth Lover humbucker in the neck. How did I live without a Telecaster?

Wow, that is pretty darn nice! I like the idea of a tele with a little stratty relief on the edges, if it still sounds like a tele.

Nice tele, Hubberjub. I'm not sure about all that contouring though. Teles are supposed to dig into your ribs or you're not getting the authentic experience

Put it on Craiglist for $20,000 as an air guitar for advanced players. Maybe the guy who buys the tubes will take an interest in it.

I`m sitting here, having had a hernia operation 2 days ago [its ok I`m comfortably numb ] and thinking what will fill my time over my next 4 weeks sick leave.
Here`s some photos of my `88 US Tele , and i know its been hand sanded down and is probably worth a third of what it should be but i never really cared about that because i know i`ll never sell it . It`s got a d`marzio vintage blues neck pick up and a seymour dunc hot rail in the bridge they sound like you`d expect but no good together . There`s a set of black [for some reason] sperzel locking tuners on it . So what I`m thinking of doing is stripping the wood back rewiring the electrics and possibly a nitro finish . I`ve always fancied a butterscotch blonde `52 but this may have to do . So watch this space or i`ll probably open up a new thread in the mods section

I`ve just about finished it , 3 cans of nitro and a lot of sanding later , it looks a bit pale though and may be in for some sunbathing out the garden .
