uh....can you enlighten us about this shoe shine trick?
I just tried the Kiwi shoe polish trick on my new Bullet...and so far, so good. The wood definitely absorbed the tint, and I've only done one coat. I used some paper towels to buff it and it's actually shinier now than it was before.
I'll do a few more coats and then buff it nicely and take some photos.
Hopefully, it won't wear off with time....

He's tinting his guitar neck, the cheap and easy way. I may also do it this way on a forthcoming fretless bass neck. Seem's it works well, and as long as it lasts and doesn't come off on your hands or whatever..., it's probably the way to go.
Keep us confused on your effort, pesky!

I got it... Kiwi Brown shoe polish to darken the tint. Kinda cool.

That's interesting...gotta remember that trick. Although I prefer very blonde wood on necks over old-looking myself, seems like an easy and working way to darken 'em if need be sometime.

it's definitely cheap and easy and quick. but i think it should only be done on necks with a satin finish...and i would only do it on very inexpensive guitars with no real resale value.Originally Posted by deeaa
i am very happy with the results, even though i discovered that i probably should have sanded the neck a little before staining.
