    Default Analog

I took some shots recently with my Pentax Spotmatic SP - my dad gave me this camera. It's from 1964 and I last used it steadily in the mid to late 80s. I have some really nice lenses for this camera that I also use on my various digicams with adapters.

Here's a shot from a recent roll of Kodak BW400CN film. No post processing...

Beautiful shot!!! I'm not a big fan of post processing anyway! I just think it is too easy and way overused. This my friend is a great shot!

Nice, moody shot of winter. B&W creates character.

I used my Dad's bare bones Pentax K1000 for years with some great results.

That was my goto camera for a long time too Tig! Somewhere around here I have almost 20 undeveloped rolls of spent film, some in black and white.

6 blade aperture, eh? Spotties are great, which lenses? I used to have some nice Pentax SMC glass in K mount. All gone now

I have a few Super Takumar lenses and some other M42 mount glass. The picture above was taken with the Takumar 50mm 1:1.4. It's my favorite lens and I have an adapter to use it on all my other systems too.

Do you guys still shoot analog? I do it infrequently now because I don't develop my old film any more (2 kids doesn't leave me much free time) and it isn't cost effective to drop $9-12 a roll for processing. Still, I really enjoy that Pentax especially with the 50mm. Just a lot of fun to shoot.

Another cool lens I picked up on Ebay cheaply is the M42 mount Auto Chinon 35mm 1:2.8. I like this especially for movies on the m4/3 cameras. Pictured below on my old Olympus PEN E-P1.

From the last roll of Kodak BW400CN processed the other day. Very stark image of a damn cold afternoon and a heavily frozen lake in Upstate NY.

I like your stuff. I still shoot very occasionally with my old Nikon FE. But only when I feel like using black and white. I have a couple old Kiron made Vivitar lenses that are like old friends. When I do get a DSLR, I am seriously considering getting one that will accept those lenses, just because I cut my teeth beginning as a teenager with them, and am so used to shooting with them. I am told I will like the new auto lenses, but I still want the option of focusing and zooming like I "grew up" doing.

So many great deals on SLRs, especially when you are buying fresh and not concerned about compatibility with existing glass. I shoot Canon because I have a ridiculous amount of money invested in EF lenses. I like the products anyway - I own an older 40D that will go into the box with me and a kinda newer T2i (lighter and mostly for vacationing). I have been tempted several times to buy a Pentax K-5. I think it is amazing - full weather sealing, great image quality, and access to ALL of Pentax K-Mount lenses going back to the 70s (all found cheaply on the 'bay).

I am also a huge fan of buying refurb from reputable places like Adorama, B&H, and KEH. I paid retail once and have since bought 5 cameras as refurbs for a fraction of the cost and no duds so far. Anyway, good luck in whatever DSLR you pick and post pictures.
