Katana 100 Mk2?
Hi all. Story time.
One of the members of my church played acoustic before the Christmas Eve service. He brought along a big ol' Line 6 half stack to play through. I anticipated that it would sound like crap. It didn't. The Line 6 has an acoustic mode. Sounded great. Thus I began thinking...
I tried playing my acoustic through my Carvin and my Jet City. Didn't sound good at all. I've been toying with the idea of trading the Carvin for a Boss Katana 100 Mk2. I don't need 100W but that model has features that I could see myself using plus a better speaker. It also has an acoustic mode which sounds great from what I have heard. I'd use the Boss for my acoustic and for a clean amph. My Jet City will remain my mid to high gain vehicle because I love it so. The Carvin seems disposable because it's 60W. On a tube amph it's really hard to find the sweet spot without making myself deaf(er). Even though it has a reverb tank, I've never liked the sound of it. I'd always prefer my Polara pedal.
If I was gigging, I'd probably go for a dedicated acoustic amph with a mic input. I will probably play at church but not sing at the same time.
My local GC has one, so I could schlep a guitar or two down there to try it out.
Thoughts? Do you still like yours, Pete/Sting?
