Came across a couple of interesting photos, so I thought I'd post 'em here. Not sure I can remember ever seeing a photo of Stevie playing a Gibson, but....

I seen those before somewhere.
The Law of Gravity is nonsense. No such law exists. If I think I float, and you think I float, then it happens.
Master Guitar Academy - I also teach via SKYPE.
He doesnt seem to enjoy playing the Les Paul...
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009
there is an album Cover with him and a 335
Pretty sure it's Soul to Soul with the 335.

You know that with the scale of the LP the only way he'd be happy with it is if it is strung with bass stings. How thick would that sound?
"No Tele For you." - The Tele Nazi
Ha! Tele-ish now inbound.
His hero, Albert King, played a Gibson V, albeit left-handed. When I first heard Albert King, I was amazed at how much SRV had gotten from him. Here's the Soul to Soul cover:
Axen: Jackson DK2M, Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster, Reverend Warhawk 390, Taylor 914ce, ESP LTD Surveyor-414
Amphen: Jet City JCA22H and JCA12S cab, Carvin X-60 combo, Acoustic B20
Effecten: "Thesis 96" Overdrive/Boost (aka DVM OD2), Hardwire DL-8 Digital Delay/Looper, DigiTech Polara Reverb, DigiTech EX-7 Expression Factory and CF-7 Chorus Factory, Danelectro CF-1 Cool Cat Fuzz
"I wish Imagine Dragons would be stuck in an Arcade Fire for an entire Vampire Weekend."--Brian Posehn
I noticed the similarities as well. It was shocking at first and initially thought it was cheap to imitate someone else, but then I realized how much soul was coming through and that I have done the same thing. So who was I to think that? Nobody.Originally Posted by marnold
I had forgotten about the cover of Soul To Soul. I usually think of Stevie with a Strat.

Those pictures are totally new to me. Stevie was the typical Strat player and I can not imagine him playing a Gibson. I still can not get used to see Jimi playing a gibson or even Rory Gallagher....
I am pretty sure that Stevie sounded like Stevie even with a Les Paul.

Here's another view of the Soul to Soul album.. hehehe

I am thinking that how was LP sounding in his hands
Guitar:Squier Affinity Strat by Fender(1999)
Pedals:Boss Chorus CE-3,Boss Super Overdrive SD-1,Rocktron Metal Planet
Amp:Roland Cube 60
Other:Tuner:Boss TU-80,Strings:Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky (9-46),Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (10-52),La Bella Electric Lite(9-46)
I don't know about him sounding like SRV with a Gibson. The only guitar I can even come close to recreating his sound is with a Strat.
Humbuckers have to much of a heavy tone to do SRV properly.
Ron Paul is like Kryptonite to Tyranny
