Brian, I don't claim to be a bass player. I bought a cheap bass 4 years ago because in order for my recordings to sound complete I needed bass. Since I'm not in a band situation I don't know whether the toggles will interfere with playing live or not. When I record obviously I can fiddle with it all I want before I record my 3 minutes of bass. I did consult with a number of knowledgeable bass players who plays this instrument and I have not heard anyone saying that the toggle placements are a problem. May be some of the bass players on this site will chime in on the topic.
