I am not sure why, but I end up changing strings very rarely on my guitars. 2 of them still have stock strings on.

I got new strings on my strat when the luthier worked on the nut... I think the old ones were on for 6-7 months. Probably time for another setup around christmas 
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009
