It's just a matter of keeping at it and asking questions. If I can learn this stuff, anybody can. I don't come from a technical background, so it was a pretty steep learning curve. Finally there are a bunch of good technical forums to learn from. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Lots of the posters enjoy helping others with their various questions.
