    Default Tuesdays at Hooligans

My new band, Phat Bone, has finally gained acceptance locally. Tonight, Tuesday, we played at Hooligans which is a college hangout. The place filled up very nicely and I really wish I would have had a camera. You guys would have absolutely loved the scenery.

We've played at Hooligans once before and the manager was out of town but got some good reviews from the staff. Tonight she came in with her sister and was really happy. "You guys are great, you're the best band we get in here." That made us feel really good so we proceeded to kick booty all night long. Needless to say we have a nice, smoke free, place to play a couple of Tuesdays each month. A little extra lettuce during the week will keep the band bunnies fat and happy.

The manager really liked the funky bluesy stuff, and if the manager likes it and the till was good I know we are going to be back often...at least until they get sick of us.

Tonight was the first night with the new Chauvet 4 Bar lights. They are super portable and easy to set up, run and take down. I'm cutting down to just 4 par 56's out front and then just the 4 Bar for stage color and wash. I have 2 sets and they do a great job.

I took the Musicman Luke and Classic Vibe 50s Strat. I never touched the Luke all night. The Classic Vibe through the Peavey Delta sounded awesome!

    Off to Wyoming Friday.

I wish I knew someone with a video camera that cold film us but I don't. I'm way to busy to try to record audio either. I guess maybe we need a fan or two that would do it eh?

    Excellent news Spud!
I can't say that I've given up on a flanger cause I've never liked the effect either. I also can't say the same about Tremolo. I hate them both equally. - Tone2TheBone 2009

    That would be great!
I've never been able to get decent footage of a gig, usually there are too many things going on, the camcorder is blocked by people, or the mic overloads and clips, always something. But then again it's usually a bar gig with folks more interested in partying..........and isn't that what rock'n roll's really all about anyway?

We had a pretty good night in spite of the fact that it's finals week at the university. They asked us to come back next Tuesday since school will be out for Christmas (sounds like an Alice Cooper song eh?). We also got a call this evening from a club in a resort town that wants us for this weekend and we just happen to be free.

    Separated at birth?

I recently came across a Rory Gallagher vs. SRV on Youtube. Maybe we could come up with an RG vs. Spudman..

You welcomed captions Spudman. You didn't say anything about tweaking your image though. If it gives any offense just let me know. Actually I always liked that shot of Rory and when I saw your pic I flashed right to it. You're just a few (ish) hairs away from a successful RG tribute career!
