Andy Summers is cool. Way cool. I love his playing for the same reasons as you've stated, as well as his unique ability to create airy, atmospheric tones as backdrops to a song using layered and textural guitar parts. A good example of this in action is found on the mondo-hit "King of Pain" off their Synchronicity album. Simply beautiful.
