My wife and kids have no idea what my guitars and amps are worth. My recurring mightmare is that when I die my wife will just take all my stuff to Goodwill and say "Here's my late husband's stuff. You can have it."
I have a 1975 Strat hardtail that I got used (3 weeks used) back in 1975 that I see now sell for over $2000 on eBay. If I don't do a good job explaining about my stuff, someone will get a good deal when I'm gone.
