Single ended means one power tube amplifies the whole signal. A single ended audio amp must be run in Class A, it is the only way it sounds good. The Valve Junior has one EL84 power tube, vintage Champs have one 6V6 power tube.

Push pull means that two tubes take turns amplifying the signal. This topology is more efficient than single ended, so you get more power. The topology can be run in Class A, but is usually run in Class AB for even more efficiency and more power out.

For example a Fender Silverface champ puts out about 5w. A Silverface Deluxe Reverb puts out about 20w.
