The cheap $14 Danelectro FAB Echo works great. Something like that would be good on your VJ. I picked up a used Digitech Digiverb pedal cheap a couple of months ago and that sounds really good too. While it sounds fantastic through the effects loop of my Jubilee it might sound different before the preamp. The FAB Echo however sounds good both ways.
