Here's a little different thing than you usually see from me. Not a blues lick per se this time, no, it's a rock guitar solo! A very short solo indeed, only 4 bars long... but that's all I had time for this time. Hopefully some rock guys who aren't into blues will get something outta this?

This tone is courtesy of my new POD Farm software and my Line 6 Toneport UX1. Works great! I am playing through my cheap Eden studio monitors.

I called this piece "4 Bars" (don't ask me why.... )

That was really cool! I like this different Robert! That guitar looks great with that big black strap and the dark grey shirt too. The fret markers really stand out. Nice looking rig!

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed it. This is a step away from my usual blues lessons, you could say. I think I will do more rock guitar lessons, with higher gain tones like this, just to get some variety.

That would be great! Don't have to be certain signature licks but stuff we can build off of. Maybe something that starts in one position and goes up the neck like a Boston lick or something. I can do a bunch of licks now but I want to move up and across the neck to a screaming solo. I am getting there but it is basically stuff that I have cobbled together. Something real solid to work off of would be great:happy

Don't remember exatly, Sumi. I used the Brit J-800 model with gain 12 - 3 o'clock, or something like that.

It sounds pretty good to record video lessons like this, right? I think it's the first time I'm not using a guitar amp for a lesson. I'm just going through the Line 6 Toneport UX1 and POD Farm, playing through my studio monitors (Eden).

I think I will do more lesson videos this way, since I don't need to crank up the volume in order to get good tone, which could overload my camera mic and lead to clipping issues with the audio.

Good lesson Robert. Managed to get this one down ok, albeit a little slower. The run on the A and D strings was a little tricky.

Any tips on playing those weaving blues lines on the bass strings at tempo?

Thanks. Tips, well practice it slower at first. Those fast trills or whatever they are called have to be very fast. 32nd notes I think. If you don't do them fast enough, the whole things gets delayed and it sounds bad. Makes sense?

Real nice lesson and it was certainly different to hear you play with higher gain. Good lesson that one can follow as you played it slowly too. The second camera angle worked well.
